Common questions
A funder called me. What should I do?
Before you agree to anything or make a payment, talk to us. Write down who called, the number and the time. Then report it here or call 212-210-1851.
I got court or legal papers.
Report them and call us the same day at 212-210-1851. Send a photo of every page through Documents. Sending us papers doesn’t file anything with a court, and court deadlines still apply. Delancey Street is not a law firm; we can connect you with an independent attorney.
When does the urgent team read my report?
Our urgent team works during client-support hours (Mon–Fri, 8am–7pm ET). We haven’t set after-hours coverage yet, so outside those hours don’t wait on a report: call and leave a message. If a court date or deadline is today or tomorrow, don’t wait for us: contact an attorney now. Then call us at 212-210-1851 (Mon–Fri, 8am–7pm ET).
Why does a figure say “Not shown yet”?
We only show figures we can confirm from our records or your account processor. “Not shown yet” is not zero. Your negotiator can send you a current statement.
I can’t make my next deposit.
Tell us as early as you can on the Requests page. A missed deposit can slow settlements and can put an agreed payment plan at risk. Until a change is confirmed, your deposit stays scheduled.
Does “Settlement agreed” mean the funder is paid?
Not always. It means the funder accepted terms. Payments under the plan may still be ahead. Each funder’s page shows payments made, what’s left and the release steps.
Will the portal email me?
No. The portal doesn’t send email notices. New items show on your home page and in Messages. Your negotiator may also call or text you, so check back here.
How often is this page updated?
We refresh figures from our records regularly. The top of each page shows when the portal was last refreshed and when our team last updated your file.
Taxes on forgiven debt
A funder may send a Form 1099-C for an amount it forgave. Please talk to your accountant or tax adviser.
